Camelot Party Rentals began with a simple vision: to help people bring their dream events to life. Founded in 1989 by Sharon Dumke, Camelot started out of a humble backyard shed in Sparks, Nevada. With just a few tables, chairs, and a big idea, Sharon saw an opportunity to provide quality rental services with a personal touch — and the community responded.
As demand grew, so did Camelot. What began as a one-woman operation steadily evolved into Northern Nevada’s leading event rental company. Over the years, the team expanded, the inventory multiplied, and Camelot eventually moved into a 30,000-square-foot facility to accommodate its growing list of offerings and clients.
In 1994, a young employee named Douglas Barrera joined the team and quickly became one of Sharon’s most trusted and dedicated staff members. In 2005, when a flood threatened the company, Douglas was the first to arrive, working tirelessly to save what he could. His loyalty and passion for Camelot were unmatched. When Sharon decided to retire, she knew Douglas was the right person to carry on her legacy.
In 2007, Douglas and four fellow employees purchased Camelot Party Rentals together. One by one, his partners moved on to pursue new opportunities, and in 2019, Douglas became the sole owner of Camelot. Today, he continues to lead the company with the same commitment, integrity, and community spirit that Sharon built from day one. When he’s not overseeing operations, Douglas enjoys soccer and fishing, two passions that reflect his love of teamwork and the great outdoors.
Now proudly employee-owned and community-driven, Camelot Party Rentals serves clients across Reno, Sparks, Carson City, and Lake Tahoe, extending throughout Northern Nevada and the Eastern Sierra — including South Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Mammoth, Lake Almanor, Quincy, Fallon, Yerington, and Winnemucca. From weddings and corporate events to festivals and private celebrations, Camelot has helped create thousands of memorable experiences — and continues to make every event feel a little magical.
